WARRENTON, Ga. -- Things didn't go as planned when the Warren County Screaming Devils tangled with the Washington-Wilkes Tigers on the basketball court last Friday night.
The result: The Tigers won 76-58. The Region 7-A loss dropped the Screaming Devils' overall record to 11-8. Warren County was scheduled to have played the Greene County Tigers in Greensboro on Tuesday night.
The Screaming Devils got off to a fine first half, outscoring the Tigers in both the first and second periods. Such a performance didn't continue in the second half. In fact, it was just the opposite, as the Tigers outscored Warren County 19-5 in the third period and 36-20 in the fourth and final eight minutes of play.
Warren County was led in scoring by Montavious "Tay" Erwin with 21 points. The only other player to score in double figures was Stanley Johnson with 11 points. Other players scoring for the Screaming Devils were Dominique Menchaca, 9, Alonzo Benton, 9, Ed'Ricus Williams, 2 and Mykevias Tolbert, 2.
