WARRENTON, Ga. -- Candice Warthen just keeps making things difficult for opponents on the hardwood.
And as a result, the Warren County High Lady Screaming Devils are enjoying another fine basketball season.
In one of the latest games, Warthen, a senior and who has verbally committed to play college basketball at the University of Arizona, hooped in 22 points as Warren County defeated Taliaferro County 72-40 last Friday night.
The Screaming Devils' overall record jumped to an impressive 17-4 following their win over Taliaferro County.
Warren County never had any troubles in the game, easily building a 28-6 lead in the first period that they never relinquished. By halftime, the Lady Screaming Devils had managed to build a 16-point lead, 36-20 over their opponents. It marked the second time this season that Taliaferro County had fallen to their neighbors from the next door county.
Although the Lady Screaming Devils were outscored 14-8 in the second period, they bounced back in the second half to outscore their opponents 21-12 in the third and 15-8 in the fourth period.
Aside from Warthen's offensive performance, two other players from Warren County also played well and scored in double-figures. They included Takesia Harris, 14 and Sondrea Hardin with 12 points.
Warren County was to play Aquinas on Tuesday night. They will travel to Lincolnton to take on the Lincoln County Lady Red Devils on Friday night.
