Mr. Carlton Edward "Smokey" Dornberg
LINCOLNTON, GA. - Mr. Carlton Edward "Smokey" Dornberg,
74, of Lincolnton, entered into rest on Friday, February 26, 2010 at
Wills Memorial Hospital in Washington.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2010 at
Jones Chapel with Rev. Wade Palmer and Rev. Tom Smalley officiating.
Interment was in New Hope Baptist Church cemetery. Serving as
pallbearers were Frank Bentley, Joe Lewis Cullars, Glen Palmer, Charles
"Daniel" Young, Thomas Quarles, Melvin Burgess, Truitt Dill and Tre
Taylor.
Mr. Dornberg was the son of the late Charles Preston Dornberg and
Geneva Snipes of Greenwood, S.C. He was a truck driver and attended
Jones Chapel. Additional survivors include three daughters, Betty Sue
Dornberg of Seneca, S.C., Carla Marie Young and husband, James Allen
of Lincolnton, Amanda Dianne Rogers and husband, Bradley Preston
of Lincolnton; one son, Charles Douglas Dornberg and wife, Jann Marie
of Washington; eight sisters, Mary Alewine of Eatonton, Ga., Annette
Langley and Patsy Horton Outzs, both of Greenwood, S.C, Marynell
Quarles of Thomson, Joann Corley of Appling, Brenda Bessinger, Linda
Parks and Lou McKellar all of Lincolnton; five brothers, Coleman Grove
McKellar, Jr., William "Billy" McKellar and Earl "Bo-Pete" McKellar,
all of Lincolnton, Howard "Buddy" McKellar of Elberton, and Claude
McKellar of Washington; seven grandchildren, Christopher Lee
Quarles, Brandon Dornberg, A.J. Young, Kayla Stone, Mitch Young,
C.J. Dornberg and Harley Dornberg; and a faithful companion, Beck.
Mr. Dornberg was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Dornberg
and his step-mother, Mary McKellar.
