Ms. Dorothy "Dot" S. Whitaker
DEARING, Ga. - Ms. Dorothy "Dot" S. Whitaker, 80, wife of the
late Macon E. Whitaker and daughter of the late Martin Andrew and
Jessie Phillips Stapleton, entered into rest Sunday, March 7, 2010, at
Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were held at Fort Creek Baptist Church on Wednesday,
March 10, 2010 at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Phil Bray and Todd Upchurch
officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Dot was born in Jefferson County and was a member of Fort Creek
Baptist Church. She owned and operated several businesses in and
around the Wrens area. She was very outgoing and outspoken. She
loved fishing, camping and being outdoors.
Dot's survivors include her three children, Harold E. (Sandra)
Whitaker, Glenn S. (Teresa) Whitaker, and Deborah (Wayne)
McCorkle; a brother, James L. Stapleton; seven grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren, and a long time companion Ray Clark; and
several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Lance Irby, Hugh Hobbs, Kenan Reese, Travis
Whitaker, Randy Walden and Lynn Jerry Reeves Sr.
Honorary memorials may be made to Fort Creek Baptist Church

The family would like to express thanks to the staff of Gibson Health
and Rehabilitation and United Hospice.
