The Bulldogs of Thomson High School scored victories over both West Laurens and Harlem in soccer action last weekend.
In the Region 3-AAA game against West Laurens at the Thomson field last Friday night, the Bulldogs won. The following day, (Saturday), Thomson hosted the Harlem Bulldogs and posted an 8-0 shutout in a nonregion game.
This Friday, Thomson will entertain the Baldwin Braves in another key region game. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
Against Harlem, Thomson scored six goals in the first half and never had to look back.
Senior Jay Bieltz and teammate George Rosales led the way for the Bulldogs as they each kicked four goals.
Rosales scored Thomson's first goal with 35:48 left to play in first half action. Less than three minutes later, he managed to break free and kicked his second goal to give Thomson a 2-0 lead.
At the 29:56 mark of the first half, Bieltz, who now holds the school's all-time scoring record in soccer, booted his first goal of the game to lift Thomson to a 3-0 lead. Rosales made it a 4-0 game when he scored his third goal with 11:33 to play in the first half. The Bulldogs later went up 5-0 when Bieltz scored on a corner kick -- the ball sailed into the net on a curved kick.
With less than two minutes left before halftime, Bieltz again, scored. Thomson tallied two more goals in the second half, as a number of reserve players entered the game for Thomson, including Ben Hobbs.
Both offensively and defensively, the Bulldogs completely dominated the game.
Thomson sophomore goalkeeper Jonathan Atkins made two saves.
