Letter to the editor

Dear Editor:

It was published several months ago in your paper that all roads in Belle Meade subdivision, four roads off of Dallas Drive, and now Happy Valley Road would be resurfaced.

We built our home in August 1964 on Howell-Young Road in McDuffie County, which is a dirt road.

County Commissioners, Bob Farr, Jake Hawkins and Joyce Blevins all told us the road would be paved. Lies, lies!

Morningside Drive, behind our road was paved, and it is a dead-end road. Then Starr-Hinson Road was paved and so was Twin Oaks Road. These roads all join Howell-Young Road.

I believe that unpaved roads should be paved before resurfacing roads is done.

To my knowledge, every resident and property owners on Howell-Young Road wants the road paved, and they are willing to do whatever is necessary (rights-of-ways, deeds, etc.) to get it done.

We are tired of the dust and mud!

We have been treated unfairly for years and years. We pay our property taxes, also.

My husband always said he would be dead and buried and Howell-Young Road would still not be paved. He was right. He has been dead 10 years.

Thank you,

Mrs. Shirley Buffington

399 Howell-Young Rd.

Thomson, Ga. 30824
