It 's watermelon-growing time again

Have you ever thought about winning $300 just for growing a watermelon?   No? Well, it's high time you do. It's planting time for the Tom Watson Watermelon Festival's annual heaviest watermelon contest. Grow the heaviest Tom Watson variety melon, bring it to the Tom Watson Watermelon Festival on August 7 at Hickory Hill, and you could win $300!  Kids can win $75 for the largest melon in the under 18 category.  Seeds are available free of charge starting April 1st (no foolin') at McDuffie Feed & Seed on the Augusta Highway in Thomson or from the Watson-Brown Foundation, 310 Tom Watson Way, Thomson.  

Contest Rules:

1) You MUST pick up your seeds from McDuffie Feed & Seed or from the Watson-Brown Foundation.

2) You MUST register in advance with the Watson-Brown Foundation.

3) Your melon MUST be a Tom Watson variety watermelon -- no other varieties are eligible.

4)   Your melon   MUST be checked in at the Festival no later than 10:00am on Saturday, August 7, 2010.
