Mr. Michael R. Adkins, Sr.
POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. - Mr. Michael R. Adkins, Sr., age 52, of
Powder Springs passed away Thursday March 25, 2010.
Funeral Services were held 4 pm Saturday at Burnt Hickory Baptist
Church with Rev. Mike Stephens and Mr. Andy Allison officiating.
Interment was at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Haddock Baptist Church
Cemetery in Haddock, Ga.
A native of Thomson, Mr. Adkins lived in Cobb County for over
20 years. He graduated from Georgia Southern University with a
bachelor of science in business, and was also a member of the Sigma Chi
Fraternity. He worked for Astra Zeneca Pharmaceuticals for 26 years,
and enjoyed coaching baseball and basketball with his sons. He was
preceded in death by his father, John F. Adkins, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Adkins; three sons, Michael Adkins,
Jr., Chad Adkins and Chase Adkins; mother, Libby Adkins, Augusta;
two sisters, Kitty Hawkins and Harriett Marsh, both of Thomson; a
brother, John F. Adkins, Jr., Chattanooga, TN; and his beloved dog
Buddy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hillgrove Hawks
Dugout Club, 1562 Ember Oaks Circle, Powder Springs, Ga. 30127
West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta was in charge
of arrangements.
