Man, woman arrested after fighting, cutting

Local authorities have arrested a woman and a man after they got into a fight and hurt each other on March 29.

Randolph Evans Tutt, 39 and Chiquita S. Jones, 22, both of the 300 block of Anderson Avenue, Thomson, were both charged in connection with cutting each other, said Thomson Police Chief Joseph D. Nelson.

Mr. Tutt was charged with simple battery and cruelty to children, while Ms. Jones was charged with aggravated assault and cruelty to children, jail records show.

The crime occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday at a residence on the 800 block of Lincoln Circle.

Both victims were treated at the scene by personnel with the McDuffie County Emergency Medical Services and firefighters/first responders with the Thomson Fire Department.

They were taken by ambulance to McDuffie Regional Medical Center in Thomson where they were treated and released.

Officer Clay Hammond responded to the call at the couple's residence.

The case later was turned over to Investigator Lt. Scott Whittle.
