A 55-year-old McDuffie County man has been charged in the death of a person following a collision between his tractor-trailer truck and a car near Hephzibah on Monday, April 5.
Jay Loveless, of Dearing, was charged with vehicular homicide in the second degree, according to Sgt. Lonnie Moore of the Richmond County Sheriff's Department.
The vehicular homicide charge is a misdemeanor. Mr. Loveless was initially charged with following too closely and failing to stop his big rig in time to avoid the crash, records show.
The wreck claimed the life of Marley Martin, of Augusta.
