Follow the road to Evans this weekend for the sixth annual Rodeo Nights Professional Rodeo.
The Columbia County Fairgrounds are open all weekend so that families can drop by, chat with the cowboys and cowgirls, see what goes on behind the scenes, grab an autograph and have an opportunity to meet Mike Wentworth, the clown for the event.
Rodeo contestants will compete against the clock and rank bucking stock of the Cross Creek Rodeo Co.
There will be a spacious vendor area with retailers, concessions, pony rides, rock-climbing wall with a bungee jump, blow-ups and a mechanical bull.
In the Kids Zone will be activities for the smaller buckaroos: a stick horse race, face painting and games. A silent auction will also take place.
Live entertainment will include Bartlee Norton, who will be on hand singing before the rodeo and during intermission.
That will all take place when the gates open at 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The proceeds from the event will go to the Southeastern Firefighters' Burn Foundation in Augusta Money from the rodeo has been instrumental in assisting burn patients and their families.
The rodeo itself will kick off Friday and Saturday at the fairgrounds. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m, with plenty of vendors and a beer garden.
Show time will be 7:30 nightly, rain or shine.
