Mr. William Herman Smith
GROVETOWN, Ga. - Mr. William Herman Smith, 87, entered into
rest Sunday, April 18, 2010 peacefully at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 22, 2010 at
Starling Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall Whitaker officiating.
Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Columbia County. He was a
World War II Veteran, a 65 year member of the American Legion,
member of the VFW Post 194 and retired from Civil Service. Mr.
Smith was a member of Powell Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Smith, two sons, William Donald
(Dell) Smith, Harlem and Frank M. Smith, Harlem; one daughter,
Lorraine Ferrell, Thomson; one sister, Helen Glazener, Jackson, SC;
three granddaughters; one grandson; four great- grandchildren; three
step-daughters, Gloria (Ray) Prince, Susan (Raymond) White and Lisa
Burnley, one step-son, Tony (Susan) Burnley; seven step-grandchildren
and four step-great grandchildren.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, William C. and
Agnes Crawford Smith, his previous wife, Leona Smith; daughter,
Frances Smith; two brothers, Hubert Smith and Clifford Smith and
sister, Maggie Kelley.
Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
