Mrs. Elaine Swint Gilmer
Retired M. B. Jones Oil Company
GIBSON, Ga. - Mrs. Elaine Swint Gilmer, 67, of Gibson, entered
into rest April 18, 2010 at University Hospital. She was the beloved
wife of 45 years to Allen Gilmer.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m.., Wednesday, April 21, 2010
at Magnolia Baptist Church with Revs. Tommy Harwell and Randall
Whitaker officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Hadden, Levy Swint, Louis Swint, James
Chalker, Jeff Gay and Denton Johnson Jr.
Mrs. Gilmer was a lifelong resident of Glascock County. She was
retired as a secretary from M. B. Jones Oil Company and Town and
Country Gas with over 20 years of service. Mrs. Gilmer also worked at
Thomson Company for many years. She served as a mentor for Glascock
Action Partners, worked as part time librarian at the Glascock County
Public Library and was a member of the Rolling Hills Garden Club.
Mrs. Gilmer was also a member of Magnolia Baptist Church where she
was active in WMU and served as past Sunday School Director.
Survivors include her mother, Corene Chalker Todd; husband, Allen
Robert Gilmer; son, Michael Gilmer and wife Stephanie; sister, Vivian
S. Smith; grandchildren, Breanna Gilmer and Boone Gilmer all of
Gibson, Georgia.
Mrs. Gilmer was preceded in death by her father, Roy Swint and her
brother, Ernest Swint.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the
Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Louis Swint, 290 Swint
Rd. Gibson, Georgia 30810.
Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
