Mr. Hubert Eugene 'Gene' Carpenter
EVANS, Ga. - Mr. Hubert Eugene 'Gene' Carpenter
entered into rest April 22, 2010. Graveside services with
full military honors were held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25,
2010, at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Donnie Barrett
officiating.
Mr. Carpenter, husband of Mrs. Glenda Smith Carpenter
of 47 years, was a native of Jefferson County, Georgia. He
retired from the U. S. Army after serving in Germany,
Korea, Hawaii and Vietnam. After 20 years, he retired from
the U. S. Signal Center Fort Gordon.
In addition to his wife Glenda, survivors include a
daughter, Cynthia Carpenter Foss (Mike) of Evans; a
son, Craig Eugene Carpenter (Kathy) of Marietta; two
grandsons, Justin W. Foss and Dalton M. Foss of Evans;
two step-grandchildren, Neal Hunter of Athens, and
Katelyn Hunter of Marietta; a sister, Katie Clements
(Gene) of Thomson; four brothers, David Carpenter of
Wrens, Russell Goodwin (Frances) of Loganville, Herbert
Goodwin (Donna) of Bethlehem, and Al Goodwin (Ann) of
Hazda, Kentucky; two brothers-in-law, Charles M. Smith
(Gloria) of Martinez, and Steve E. Smith (Petra) of Queen
Creek, Arizona; two aunts, many cousins; and a number of
nieces and nephews.
