For the third time in Briarwood Academy school history, the varsity girls' track and field team is the Georgia Independent Schools Association Class A State Champions.
Ironically, all three times, longtime Briarwood Academy head coach Clayton Parrish has led those teams to the biggest crown of them all.
"This is real special," coach Parrish said during an interview on Monday. "I'm very proud of our girls. They worked very hard all season and performed at their best when it mattered most. This was a team championship in every since because everyone contributed in one way or another."
Coach Parrish described his team as "great group of girls to work with because they all supported each other. I want to thank all the parents and fans that traveled to Albany and helped us bring home this championship."
