Mrs. Laura Ray Norris
EVANS, Ga. - Mrs. Laura Ray Norris, 91, widow of Mr.
John B. Ray and Mr. Sterling Norris, died Sunday, May 2,
2010, in Doctors Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5,
in the Platt's Funeral Home Chapel on Belair Road with
Rev. Phillip Winsett officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest
Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ray was a native of Richmond County. She was a
retired Sales Clerk, having worked for Belk's for 25 years.
She was a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church. She
was a member of Cleopatra Chapter 241 order of Eastern
Star for 28 years. She was a member of Senior friends. She
was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Brown.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Jimmy and Dorothy
Ray, Martinez; her daughter and her husband, Margie
and Stan Amerson, Grovetown; Grandchildren, Ronnie
and Glenda Brown, Martinez, Tracy Brown, Martinez,
Anita and Gary Simpson, Martinez, Kevin and Tracy Ray,
Martinez, Stacey and Rob Sakers, Wilmington, Del., Rod
and Marvina Amerson, Wildwood, Mo., and Shawn and
Sam Pack, Mooresville, N.C.; 11 great-grandchildren; and
one great-great- grandchildren; and stepchildren, Mary
and Frank Sanders, Eatonton, Janelle and Norman Dent,
Thomson, Martha and Bobby Jackson, Thomson, Kathy
Norris, Warrenton, Lawrence (Bubba) and Debbie Norris,
Thomson, and Donald Norris, Warrenton.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Brown, Tracy Brown, Rod
Amerson, Kevin Ray, Gary Simpson, Rob Sakers, and Sam
Pack. Friends may call at the residence of Stan and Margie
Amerson or at the Curtis Funeral Home.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
