WARRENTON, Ga. -- Fierce competition from other Class A girls' track teams prevented the Warren County High School Lady Screaming Devils doing as well as they have done in the past state track meets.
This year, the Lady Screaming Devils of coach Marleau Blount finished 12th.
"There was a real strong Class A field this year," said coach Blount. "The finish was the finale for a much decorated senior class and a promising underclass."
Again this season, the Lady Screaming Devils won the region championship.
This year's state track meet was held at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany.
Those placing in the state track meet included:
Tyksia Johnson -- fifth place in the 400-Meter Heat 1;
Sondrea Hardin -- eighth place in the 200-Meter Heat 2;
Shabria Martin -- eighth place in the 300-Meter Hurdles Heat 1;
Bernashia Allen -- eighth place in the 300-Meter Hurdles Heat 2;
Lakerria Williams -- second place in the Triple Jump and Long Jump;
Tomeka Harris -- fifth place in the Long Jump; and
Tynesha Harris -- 10th place in the Discus Throw.
The Lady Screaming Devils' 4 x 100-Meter Relay Team placed fifth, while the Mile Relay Team finished sixth in Heat 1.
