JUNIOR RANGERS
WHERE: Mistletoe State Park

FOR MORE INFO: Cost: $50 pre-registration is required. Open to ages 8-12. Day one is Georgia Wildlife and Get Out & Play Activities. Children will investigate mammals, reptiles and amphibians and birds of prey. They will learn how to use binoculars, dissect owl pellets and go on a nature hike. In the afternoon children will make sand candles and plaster-paris prints, play outdoor games and get wet. Day two is Outdoor Living Day. Children will build shelters, learn how to build their own fire, cook lunch outdoors on the campfire and hike. They will also create their own pioneer toys that consist of a whistle and pull toy. Day three is Water Day. Children will learn water safety and how to paddle a canoe. Then they will canoe to the rock dam area, seine in the creek discovering what critters make their home in Boulder Creek. They will eat lunch near the Rock Dam then canoe back to the picnic area. Each child will be rewarded with a Junior Ranger patch becoming a registered Georgia State Park Junior Ranger. Space is limited to 10 children so make sure to register early.

FOR MORE INFO: THS will administer the Georgia End-of-Course Tests for students enrolled in summer credit recovery. Math EOCTs will be administered at 9 a.m. and all other EOCTs will be administered at 1 p.m. Parents should note that the EOCT comprises 15% of the student's grade in any EOCT course; students enrolled in EOCT courses must take the tests in order to receive credit for the classes.
