Mrs. Evelyn McCarty
Retired School Teacher
EVANS, Ga. - Mrs. Evelyn McCarty, 86, widow of Mr.
John H. "Jack" McCarty, died, Monday, June 14, in the
Doctors Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 18, in
the Thomson First United Methodist Church with the Rev.
Charles Broome officiating. Burial was private.
Mrs. McCarty was a native of Dublin, but was a resident
of Thomson for over 50 years, and has spent the last 5 years
living in Evans with her daughter. She was a University of
Georgia Graduate, and a retired teacher. She was a member
of Philadelphia United Methodist Church, and a member of
the J.O.Y. Sunday school class. Mrs. McCarty was preceded
in death by her husband, John H. "Jack" McCarty, and her
brother, Kelley Wyatt.
Survivors include her son, John M. (Margaret) McCarty,
Sandersville; her daughter, Ginny M. (Lester) Berry, Evans;
her grandchildren, Charles (Krista) Shivers, John Shivers,
Nathan (Teresa) Berry, Meg (Danny) Levie, her greatgrandchildren,
Eve Shivers, Donilo Shivers, Eva & C.J.
Berry, Maggie Levie, her sister, Joyce (Jerry) Brantley,
Dublin; her brother, Jimmie (Betty) Wyatt, Dublin,
her sister-in-laws, Jane Wyatt, Dublin, Billie McCarty,
Thomson, and several nieces and nephews, and several great
nieces and nephews.
Members of the J.O.Y. Sunday school class were
pallbearers.

Philadelphia United Methodist Church. "Busy Bee" Friends
may call at the Curtis Funeral Home.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
