Jeff permits no passive listening, quickly involving kids in sing-a-longs, rhythmic clapping and simple square dances. AUGUSTA SOUTHERN NATIONALS DRAG BOAT RACING

WHERE: the Savannah River

WHEN: July 16-18

FOR MORE INFO: 25th Annual Augusta Southern Nationals Drag Boat Races. Over 100 racing teams from25 states will compete for $140,000 in purse and prizes as they try to beat the record of 252.94 MPH in the "World's Richest Drag Boat Race." See the fastest and loudest boat racing action in the country as competitors race down the liquid quarter mile. The event benefits the Augusta Chapter of the Georgia Special Olympics. FAMILY Y SWIM LESSONS SUMMER SESSION

POWERFUL TOOLS FOR CAREGIVING

FOR MORE INFO: Presented by the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension, this is a six-week educational series to provide family caregivers with tools to increase their self-care and confidence. A participation fee of $35 includes "The Caregiver Helpbook," which is required, and will be accepted at the Extension Office, 116 Main St., Thomson. Class size is limited to 15. Registration deadline is Thursday, July 22. Past class participants indicate improved emotions, including reduced anger, guilt and depression.
