Haley Tam, of Thomson, recently had the opportunity to visit Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue in Atlanta. Earlier this year, Miss Tam wrote and illustrated a children's picture book, Flip, the Lonely Fish. State Representative Sistie Hudson (D-Sparta) made the arrangements for Miss Tam to show Gov. Perdue her book on June 29.
"He was most impressed with her exceptional talent, as we all are, and wished her much success," Mrs. Hudson said.
The governor told Miss Tam he would like additional copies of the book for his grandchildren.
Miss Tam graduated from Thomson High School with the Class of 2010. A member of the McDuffie Arts Council, Miss Tam will attend Savannah College of Art and Design in the fall.
