Man killed, son injured in wreck on Interstate

WARRENTON, Ga. -- A South Carolina man was killed and his young son injured after the man lost control of his SUV and slammed into a tree on Interstate 20 in Warren County on Sunday night.

Deputy Coroner Sandy Yelton identified the man as Ryan Rinelle, 34, of Pelion. Mr. Rinelle died from blunt force trauma to the head and chest, Mrs. Yelton said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's 4-year-old son, Decklin, who was restrained in the back seat, received a head injury, according to Warren County Emergency Medical Services Director Tommy Wolfe. The child was treated at the scene by EMS personnel and firefighters/first responders with the Warren County Fire/Rescue Services. He later was taken by ambulance to Medical College of Georgia Hospital in Augusta.

Trooper First Class Ben Rollins of the Georgia State Patrol post in Grovetown said the man lost control of his 2005 Toyota Scion while traveling eastbound during a rain storm. The SUV then struck a pine tree.
