Mrs. Patsy Henderson Rhodes
DEARING, Ga. - Mrs. Patsy Henderson Rhodes, 74, wife of the
late Robert Rhodes, passed over to heaven on Saturday, July 17,
2010, at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Memorial services were held Thursday, July 22, at 3 p.m., at
the Starling Funeral Home in Harlem, with Rev. Mary Griswell
officiating.
Patsy grew up with seven brothers and sisters: Jimmy, Bobbie
Jean, Buck, Nate, Peggy, and Will. Her parents, Willie B. and
Jubie Henderson Rhodes ran a farm outside of Fitzgerald, Ga.
where she picked cotton, canned fruit, milked cows, and ran
barefoot through the fields. She attended Georgia Southern
Teachers' College where she met and married Robert and relocated
to Augusta where she raised three beautiful children. From a
humble beginning she became a business owner, postal worker,
bookkeeper, artist, and musician. There was nothing she couldn't
do if she put her mind to it. She was funnier than any woman on
TV and could fill a room with her gigantic heart and presence.
Everyone who knew her loved her.
She is survived by her three children: Dusty Rhodes and his
wife Lisa, Russell (Susan) Rhodes and Patricia Rhett Barton; her
grandchildren: Kacey Rhodes (Robbie), Matt Rhodes, Lauren
Rhodes, Reid Rhodes (Stephanie), and Kristian Meadows. She is
survived by her great-grandchildren: Logan, Madison, Ashton,
Haley, Kaylin, Jaden, and Lilly. She was preceded in death by four
grandchildren: Shannon, Dalton, Katelyn, and Caleb.
Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
