Mrs. Jewell E. Boyd
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Jewell E. Boyd of Augusta, 76, wife of
Rev. Richard W. Boyd, Sr., died Friday, July 16, 2010 at Doctors
Hospital.
Mrs. Boyd was a native and lifelong resident of Richmond
County. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in
Hephzibah; having attended there since childhood. After raising
their three children Mrs. Boyd attained her nursing degree from
Augusta State College and worked fifteen years on the OB/GYN
floor at University Hospital before retiring. Mrs. Boyd served
alongside her husband in numerous pastorates in the CSRA in
various capacities including pianist, florist and Sunday School
teacher. She remained a devoted Christian daughter, sister, wife,
mother and witness her entire life. In her spare time Mrs. Boyd
enjoyed time spent with her family and being outdoors. She was
an avid gardener.
In addition to her husband of sixty years, family members
include their son, Billy Boyd of Clarkesville and his wife Martha;
daughters: Vickie Ellison of Forsyth and her husband Walter,
and Sharon Wall of Thomson and her husband Michael; seven
grandchildren and five great grandchildren; her brother Wilber G.
Morgan and sisters Mary Galloway and Delores McGlohon.
She was preceded in death by her infant son Timothy D. Boyd.
Mrs. Boyd's funeral service was held at 1 p.m., July 19, 2010
at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church with Dr. Billy Turner officiating.
Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Walter Ellison, Michael Wall, Mark Boyd, Chris
Prescott, Timothy Boyd and Gary Futch. University Hospital OB/
GYN nurses and staff served as honorary pallbearers.

Memorial Dept., 501 St. Judges Pl, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-

Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Directors was in charge of
arrangements.
