Snakes Alive!

The Thomson McDuffie County Library Vacation Reading Program ended Tuesday, July 22 with a presentation by Snakes Alive! Steve Scruggs. Mr. Scruggs brought an assortment of venomous and non-venomous snakes indigenous to the area, and gave lessons on how to identify them, the difference between venomous and non-venomous, what they eat, what to do if seeing one and laws about killing snakes. Librarian Suzan Harris said 651 children participated in the vacation reading program and read 10,406 books all together, 1,505 children attended the 50 story times, and 1,928 attended special programs and craft workshops.
