Mrs. Nina Brooks Walden Rayfield
THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Nina Brooks Walden Rayfield,
90 of Thomson, entered into rest July 21, 2010 at Thomson
Health and Rehabilitation. She was the beloved wife of Cleo Q.
Rayfield and the late Robert H. Walden.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 23, 2010
at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Dwayne Hooven
officiating. Interment followed at Savannah Valley Memorial
Gardens.
Pallbearers were grandsons, grandsons-in-law and a greatgrandson.
Mrs. Nina Walden Rayfield was a lifelong resident of
McDuffie County, and was the daughter of the late Claude L.
Brooks and the late Ethel Cason Brooks. She was retired owner
and operator of the Walden House Florist in Thomson. She was
affectionately referred to as "Mama Nina" by her grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and countless children who's care was
entrusted to her by their parents. She also enjoyed baking cakes
and cooking. Mrs. Rayfield was a member of Shoals Primitive
Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Cleo Q. Rayfield of Thomson;
son, Brooks Walden and wife Bunnie of Thomson; daughters,
Betty Walker and husband Luckey of N. Augusta, SC, Lynne
Radford (the late John Radford) of Athens; step-children,
Kayren Auvenshine of Grovetown, Mike Rayfield of Atlanta;
brother, Johnny C. Brooks, sister, Doris B. Rooks; sister-in-law,
Jackie S. Brooks all of Thomson; eight grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lona B. Land and a
brother, Enoch J. Brooks.
Memorials may be made to the Shoals Primitive Baptist
Church c/o Donald Brewer 4091 Ansley Rd. Warrenton,
Georgia 30828.
The family wishes to express their grateful appreciation
to Dr. Susan Land and caregivers of Thomson Health and
Rehabilitation.
Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
