Dearing to celebrate its 100th anniversary

The Town of Dearing will celebrate it's 100th anniversary on Friday the 13th. The casual event will include a PowerPoint presentation, brief history of the town, historical display, speeches from governmental dignitaries, and a reception.

"I'm looking forward to it," Dearing Mayor Sean Kelley said. "I hope everybody gets to relive old memories and see friends they haven't seen in a long time."

The event will be held in the old Dearing Gymnasium, which has been renovated. The town is renting portable air conditioners to ensure everyone's comfort and enjoyment.

"It's going to be like a birthday party with cake," Mayor Kelley said. "And, it will be air conditioned."

August 13 is the actual day of the town's incorporation according to the charter.

The public is invited to attend the celebration, at 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13. For more information, call 706-556-3725.
