THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Ruby A. Newsome, 101, widow
of Mr. Willis Newsome Sr., went home to be with the Lord,
Monday, August 16, 2010.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August
18, 2010, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
John Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the Reedy Creek
Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Newsome was a native of McDuffie County. She was a
retired LPN from the University Hospital and a homemaker.
She was a member of the Reedy Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons,
Harold and Hodges Newsome and a daughter, Shirley
Ailene Newsome.
Survivors include six sons, Willis Newsome Jr., Harlem,
Robert Jay Newsome, Thomson, James C. (Chick) Newsome,
Stapleton, Edward Newsome, Wrens, Wallace P. Newsome,
Kissimmee, Fl., and Donald M. Newsome, Thomson; 17
grandchildren and numerous great- grandchildren; and
extra special caregiver, Joyce Hatcher.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Reedy
Creek Baptist Church.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
