Thomson man arrested for burglary

A 30-year-old Thomson man has been arrested as a suspect in a recent residential city break-in, authorities say.

Investigator Capt. J. Bridges of the Thomson Police Department identified the suspect as Ortavious Smalley, of the 1400 block of Dallas Drive.

Mr. Smalley, who was taken into custody last week, was charged with one count of burglary. He was taken to the McDuffie County Law Enforcement Center.

The suspect is accused of breaking into a residence on the 100 block of White Oak Street on Aug. 21, according to a report filed by Sgt. Scott Whittle.

A person entered through the front door of Katrina Mance's residence and stole a 42-inch plasma television set, valued at $1,600, Sgt. Whittle said. The intruder left out through the back door.
