Thomson man sought in assault

A Thomson man is being sought by local authorities in connection with an assault on a young woman last Sunday afternoon.

Sgt. Jammie Smith of the Thomson Police Department said Jamie Hill, in his 20s, is wanted for questioning for reportedly injuring his girlfriend during an assault at the woman's apartment on Georgia Avenue shortly before 2 p.m.

The woman, who received lacerations to the left side of her face and neck, identified Mr. Hill as the person responsible for the crime.

She was treated at the scene by personnel with the McDuffie County Emergency Medical Services and a firefighter/first responder with Thomson Fire Rescue.

Following the aggravated assault, Mr. Hill fled the residence of the woman. A search of the area was made by Sgt. Smith and Officer Don Hilson in an attempt to find Mr. Hill. Efforts to locate him failed that afternoon.

In addition to questioning about the weekend assault on his girlfriend, Mr. Hill also is wanted by police on a pair of outstanding criminal warrants. Sgt. Smith said the warrants are for theft by taking and theft by receiving.

Anyone with information regarding Mr. Hill's whereabouts should contact the Thomson Police Department at 706-595-2166.
