Mr. Alfred L. "Joe" Davis

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Alfred L. "Joe" Davis, 68, beloved
husband of Mrs. Linda L. Davis, of Thomson, died Monday,
September 6, 2010, at his residence.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 10, in
Thomson First Baptist Church with Dr. James Ramsey, Mr. Cliff
Poston, and Mr. Grant Usry officiating. Burial was at Savannah
Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Davis was a native of Chelsea, Oklahoma, but had lived in
Thomson for many years. He was a retired supervisor with Two-
State Construction Company. He was an Army Veteran, having
served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Holland Baptist
Church in Holland Michigan, but attended the Thomson First
Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold
W. and Irene Davis and a sister, Melva Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Linda L. Davis, Thomson; three
daughters, Anissa (Rusty) Balch, Gainesville, Cheri (Rex) Edmunds,
Evans, and Lindsay (Jerry) Dunn, Thomson; a sister, Wanda Payton,
Pryor, Ok.; two brothers, Leroy Davis, Pryor, Ok. and Ralph Davis,
Grove, Ok.; 5 grandchildren, Ashlyn Balch, Ryan Balch, Emily Mae
Edmunds, Elizabeth Lyn Edmunds, and Ethan Edmunds; and his
mother-in-law, Jessie Mae Layton, Chelsea, Ok.
Honorary Pallbearers were Joey Allen, David Cheatham, Kenneth
Parish, Cliff Poston, Cleve Poston, Cully Poston, Jimmy Poston, Joe
Powell, Doc Stanphill, J.L. Stanphill, Grant Usry, Jamie Usry, and
Billy Hadden.
In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the Organ Fund at
Thomson First Baptist Church.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
