Blanchard named to bankers association

Patrick G. Blanchard, vice chairman of the Board of First Bank of Georgia, recently was elected to the 2010-2011 Board of Directors of the Community Bankers Association of Georgia for a 20th year of consecutive service on the board.

The Community Bankers Association of Georgia is a non-profit organization serving community banks throughout Georgia for nearly 41 years to enhance their profitability and growth. The CBA was founded in 1969 by a group of Georgia community bankers to protect the political interest of locally owned community banks. Representing over 300 community banks and over 200 associate member companies, CBA offers services in four district areas which include political affairs, education, products and services, and networking.

Mr. Blanchard is recognized on a local and national level in the field of banking. His activities have included serving as a member of the Southeastern Board of Directors and the National Nominating Committee of the Bank Administration Institute. He has served on the National Community Bank Advisory Council of the Deluxe Corporation and has previously served as an advocate for the Community Bankers Association within Georgia and the United States Congress.

He was named "1994 CEO of the Year" by the Augusta Business Journal and was named "1995 Sponsor of the Year" by the Credit Professionals International Georgia.

Mr. Blanchard is an honorary member of the United States Signal Corps Regiment and holds the rank of Brevet Colonel in the United States Signal Corps.

The office complex, which houses the Department of Finance and Logistics of the College of Business Administration of Georgia Southern University, is named in his honor.

On June 4, 1999, Blanchard was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the College of Business Administration at Georgia Southern University.

During March 2000, he was honored by the International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi with their highest award, the 1999 National Career Achievement Award.

On May 18, 2003, "The Atlanta Journal Constitution" published a list of Georgia's 100 Top Performing Companies. Georgia-Carolina Bancshares, Inc. (parent company of First Bank of Georgia) was listed as number three.

Mr. Blanchard was named one of Georgia's Top 25 Performing CEO's ranked for a five-year shareholder return by "The Atlanta Business Chronicle" in March of 2006, 2007 and October of 2008.

He was named one of the most influential citizens in the Augusta area by an Augusta State University graduate study in May, 2008.

He is a member of the Augusta Country Club and The Pinnacle Club and resides on the 2800 block of Hillcrest Avenue in Augusta. He is married to the former Gwen Banks of Statesboro. They have two children: Mary and Patrick, Jr. He and his family are members of First Baptist Church of Augusta.
