Mr. Karl Smith

MARTINEZ, Ga. - Mr. Karl Smith, 88, husband of the late Mrs.
Annie Louise Reid Smith, entered into rest September 15, 2010 at
his residence.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 18, 2010, at 11:
30 a.m. at Marvin United Methodist Church with Rev. Elizabeth
Ackerman officiating. Interment was at Bellevue Memorial
Gardens.
Mr. Smith was born in Columbia County, Ga. He served with
honor in the U.S. Army during World War II. Karl retired from the
Medical College of GA, where he was Superintendent of Grounds.
As a member of Marvin United Methodist Church, Karl was very
involved with the church exercise class, "Muscle Builders," and the
Mildred Walton Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by
a son, Harold Smith.
Survivors include: two sons, Billy W. (Jayne) Smith, North
Augusta, S.C., Kenneth Michael (Carol) Smith, Harlem, Ga.;
three daughters, Margaret Smith (Billy) Fife, Grovetown, Ga.,
Linda (Jerry) Taylor, Martinez, Ga., Susan S. (Murphy) Hannah,
Orange Park, Fla.; stepdaughter, Lorraine McDonald, Thomson.;
12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; thre great-great
grandchildren; and a very special family friend, Patrick Lee,
Olympia, Wash.
Grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were
members of the Mildred Walton Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Marvin United
Methodist Church. Thomas L. King Funeral Home was in charge
of arrangements.
