A 49-year-old local man already on the Georgia Sex Offender Registry List is back in jail accused of fondling a teenage girl last Sunday afternoon, authorities say.
McDuffie County Sheriff's Department Investigator Al Reeves identified the suspect as Andrew Johnson, of the 4500 block of Boyd-Bradshaw Road, Dearing.
Mr. Johnson, who is being held without bond in the McDuffie County Law Enforcement Center, was charged with one count of child molestation, Investigator Reeves said. The suspect was taken into custody about 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. He is accused of fondling a 14-year-old teenage girl at a residence earlier in the day. The crime reportedly occurred in the presence of a 4-year-old child.
Investigator Reeves said Mr. Johnson is on the Georgia Sex Offender Registry and "had been in compliance" before his latest arrest.
Special Agent Doug Parker of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 7 Office in Thomson assisted Investigator Reeves in the latest incident reportedly involving Mr. Johnson.
