Ferst Foundation gives books to area children

The McDuffie Action Team for the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy encourages registration of ALL children under the age of 5.

Once registered, children receive a book a month from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library until age 5 at no charge.

Each book comes with a newsletter for parents with tips on how to keep children safe and prepare them for Kindergarten.

Several registration boxes have been placed around the county. Simply fill out a registration form and drop it in the box. It takes about 3 months for the books to begin arriving.

Parents are also encouraged to let the Foundation know if your address changes so that your child can continue receiving books. Address changes can be submitted by leaving a note in one of the registration boxes or by calling Beverly at 706-361-0395. Be sure to leave a message and Beverly will get back with you. Children with incorrect addresses are dropped from the program so be sure to keep your address up to date.

Locations where registration boxes are currently located are: Maxwell Elementary School, Stepping Stones, First Baptist Church, Queen of Angels Church (through October) and The Housing Authority.
