Mr. Roy Lee Brewer

WARRENTON, Ga. - Mr. Roy Lee Brewer, age 89, beloved
husband of the late Mrs. Reba Sturdivant Brewer of Warrenton, died
Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at his residence. Funeral services were
held at 11 a.m.. Thursday, October 14, 2010, at the First Baptist
Church of Warrenton with the Revs. Mike Dann and Wayne Gahnn
offi ciating. Burial followed at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Brewer, a lifelong resident of Warren County, retired from the
CSX Railroad in 1985. He enjoyed wood working, country music,
and playing the guitar. A U. S. Army veteran of WW II, Mr. Brewer
proudly served his country in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and
Germany under the command of Gen. George S. Patton. He drove a
"deuce and a half" onto Utah Beach June 6, 1944. He was a member
of the First Baptist Church of Warrenton.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Andy Rachels (Wife Vicki)
Peachtree City, GA, Jeremy Rachels, Warrenton, Christy Brewer,
Thomson, and Chris Brewer, Statesboro, one great-grandson,
Drew Rachels, Peachtree City, GA, one son in law, Larry Rachels,
Warrenton, one brother, A. W. Brewer, Jr., Warrenton, several
nieces and nephews.
Mr. Brewer was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mrs.
Reba S. Brewer, daughter, Joan B. Rachels, son, Carroll Brewer and
a daughter-in-law, Carolyn W. Brewer.
Pallbearers were Jim McMichael, Dennis Coxwell, W. Larry
Johnson, Eugene Norris, Jimmy Harden, and Bobby Newsome.
Honorary pallbearers were Dan Crumpton, Kermit House, David
Harper, and the Adult VII Sunday School Class.
In lieu of fl owers, the family request that memorials be made
to the First Baptist Church of Warrenton, 201 Norwood Street
Warrenton, GA 30828.
