County's 2011 budget will be $28.9 million

The McDuffie County Board of Commissioners recently approved the passage of a new multi-million dollar budget.

The 2011 budget totals $28,945,065.

That amount represents $12,402,533 in general funds, according to McDuffie County Manager Don Norton.

Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution adopting the new annual budget. I t since has been signed by Commission Chairman Charles G. Newton, IV, as well as County Clerk Penny Salley.

The resolution also calls for a separate Capital Improvement Plan. The plan already has been developed and adopted.

During recent public meetings, commissioners have discussed the new budget, revised it and proposed the passage of it as being in the best interest of the county.

Now that the budget has been approved, it allows Mr. Norton to execute it as adopted or to work with it if it is revised or amended in the future.

The new 2011 budget will become effective on Jan. 1, 2011.
