Ms. Vera Lanier Davidson
THOMSON, Ga. - Ms. Vera Lanier Davidson, 97, died Thursday,
December 30, 2010. She was the widow of James Andrew Davidson
and the daughter of the late John N. and Ara Collins Lanier.
She was a native of Candler Co., but had made her home in
Thomson for many years. She attended South Georgia Teachers
College and taught school before marriage. After the death of her
husband, she continued to own and operate Davidson's Dry Cleaners
for more than 46 years. She was a member of the First United
Methodist Church of Thomson for over 55 years. The love of God,
family, and friends were the driving force in her life. Her courage,
compassion, and charity were boundless.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and Jim
C. Reeves of Augusta and Judith and James P. Cotton, Jr. of
Lawrenceville; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. James A. and Judy
Davidson III of Augusta; brother and sister-in-law, Ray L. and
Barabara Lanier of Metter; sisters-in-law, Dot Lanier and Edna
Lanier; six grandchildren and their spouses, James P. Cotton III
(Kimberley), Steven C. Cotton (Sara), Scott C. Cotton (Kathryn),
Marcus A. Reeves (Arlene), Leigh Reeves Wiley (Lee), Katherine
Davidson Stewart (Miles); and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 2, 2011, at 3:
00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. John
Barnes officiating. Interment was in the Savannah Valley Memorial
Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United
Methodist Church of Thomson.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
