Drugs, cash seized in traffic stop

WARRENTON, Ga. -- Marijuana and more than $5,000 in cash were seized after a recent traffic stop by a deputy sheriff. Two men were arrested.

Warren County Sheriff's Office Deputy Joey Akers identified the suspects as:

Caius Mincey, 30, of the 3100 block of Skinner Mill Road, Augusta; and

Christopher M. Mack, 38, of the 2500 block of Quail Run Drive, Hephzibah.

They were taken into custody on Dec. 29 after a traffic stop near the intersection of Georgia Highway 80 and Legion Drive, near Warrenton. Each has been charged with violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, Deputy Akers said. After their arrests, they were taken to the McDuffie County Law Enforcement Center in Thomson by Deputy Trevor Franklin.

Deputy Akers said he initiated the traffic stop because a trailer being pulled by a pickup truck did not have a license plate.

The traffic stop led to a search of the truck. A Toyota Avalon, which was loaded on a trailer, also was searched by the deputy and his K-9 partner.

Deputy Akers said he seized $5,300 in cash and three gallon plastic bags of marijuana.

The drugs were found in the trunk of the car, wrapped in a black jacket, he said.
