Mr. Matthew "Matt" T. Jones

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Matthew "Matt" T. Jones,
30 of Thomson, entered into rest January 14, 2011.
He was the beloved son of Tommy and Connie
Jones.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday,
January 16, 2011 at the Beggs Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Steve Stokes officiating. Interment
followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Kevin Burnley, Daniel Ansley, Luke Chamblee,
Blake Kennedy, Bryce Hawes and Daniel Hughes.
Matt was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County, and graduated in
1999 from Thomson High School where he played in the THS Band.
He attended Augusta Technical Institute and graduated in 2004
with a mechanical engineering degree. Matt had been employed
with the City of Thomson. He attended Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Matt and his brother, Eric co-authored a book entitled Steel Drivers
Moon which was published in 2010. Survivors include his mother
and father, Connie and Tommy Jones; brother, Eric Michael Jones;
paternal grandparents, George T. Jones, Sr. and Betty Jones.;
maternal grandmother, Emily Smith ,all of Thomson; and special
caregivers, Belinda Davis, Robbin Anderson and Jackie Johnson.
Matt was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Roy O.
Smith.
Memorials may be made to the MCG Health Children's Medical
Center, 1120 15th Street, BA 8270, Augusta, GA 30912.
Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
