Mr. Robert (Bob) Louis Norquist

GALESBURG, Il - Mr. Robert (Bob) Louis Norquist, 87, passed away on January 19, 2011, surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Galesburg, IL and honorable and proudly served onboard L.S. T 244 in the U. S. Coast Guard during World War II in the South Pacific conflicts. After the War, he returned home, married Jeanne Flaherty. They were married 57 years, until her death in 2003. Bob and Jeanne raised 5 daughters - Pat, Jan, Karen Barbara and Susan. He was always proud of the family they created, which has grown to include nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He served the Lord faithfully in the Roman Catholic Church; most recently as a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lexington, SC. Over the years he served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and was a Past Grand Knight for Council #6918, Thomson. He was a patriot, a conversationalist, a Braves fan and our Papa. He is survived by his immediate family, loving companion, Ruby Curtis, and brothers Edward Norquist, Galesburg, IL, William Norquist, Mt. Ephram, NJ, and sisters Virginia Vinson, Southhaven, MS, Marilyn Mellican, Galesburg, IL. In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made to WreathsAcrossAmerica.org for the holiday wreaths that are placed on all of the graves at all of the National Cemeteries in honor of all of our Veterans. Expressions of sympathy for the Norquist family may be left at www.southcarolinacremation.com.
