Thomson Lions to host district governor

Lions District 18F Gov. Lion Paul May will make his official visit to Thomson Camellia City Lions on Monday at the Lions' annual Valentine's Banquet. The event will be held at The Depot at 7 p.m., with District Gov. May as the guest speaker.

Gov. May has been a member of the Milledgeville Lions Club for 24 years. He has held all offices in his club except secretary. He served as district treasurer for five years prior to becoming first vice governor for 2009-2010 and was elected district governor for 2010-2011. He has attended the Southeastern Lions Leadership Institute, USA/Canada Forum and the Lions International conventions in 2009 and 2010. He has received several International Lions Awards for his service and leadership in Lions.

Gov. Paul is originally from Atlanta and graduated from Georgia Tech. He worked for large corporations for 20 years and then he and his wife owned their own business, American Fast Photo, for 23 years.

Thomson Camellia City Lions are looking forward to his visit and encourage all Lions members to meet Gov. May and his wife, Mary.

Foster Wylie is president of the local Lions Club, which boasts 26 members.

Bonnie Martin, a former local president and regional Lions leaders, said the Lions participate in local and international service, such as the White Cane Day raising money for the blind.

Lions collect eyeglasses, cell phones and hearing aids that are distributed to the needy through Georgia Lighthouse.
