Mr. Billy R. Anderson
THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Billy R. Anderson, 72, beloved husband
of 54 years to Barbara Sorrell Anderson, died Monday, January 31,
2011, in Thomson.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, February 4, 2011 at
Otts Funeral Home, interment at Crews Cemetery in Sulligent,
Alabama with Pastor Edward Pucket officiating.
A native of Sulligent, Alabama, Mr. Anderson served in the
Alabama National Guard and was called to active duty during
the Cuban Missile Crisis. Upon completion of his guard duties
he began a career with Continental Can Company in Hopewell,
Virginia, where he remained for five years. Mr. Anderson was
then transferred to Augusta where he continued his career with
Continental Can, Federal Paper Board and finally retiring from
International Paper Company in 1999 after 37 years of service.
Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents Tol Denton
Anderson and Bess Otts Anderson of Sulligent, Alabama, as well as
his sister Elizabeth Barnes all from Sulligent, Alabama.
Along with his beloved wife Barbara, Mr. Anderson is survived
by two daughters and sons in-law; Teresa Dudley and husband
Ronnie of Suwanee, Ga. and Elizabeth Davis and husband Perry of
Evans, Ga. He is also survived by four grandsons; Ken Davis, Brad
Davis and Robert Davis all from Evans, and Andrew Dudley from
Suwanee, Georgia. Mr. Anderson is survived by his three sisters and
brothers in-law; Margaret Carr and husband Billy from Vernon,
Ala, Jonnie Smith and husband John, Lois Chaffin and husband
Paul from Sulligent, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.
Billy is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his friends
and family.
