Mrs. Bertha Eloise Stevenson Royal McGahee

THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Bertha Eloise Stevenson Royal McGahee, 87, was called to Heaven February 12, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene F. "Gene" Royal and Bud R. McGahee. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Dr. Don Widener officiating. Mrs. McGahee was born in Appling, and was the daughter of the late G.P. "Pop" Stevenson and the late Sybil Tankersley Stevenson. She was retired from Garland Mills as a seamstress, was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by her husbands, E.F. "Gene" Royal and Bud R. McGahee; her daughter, Frankie Eugenia Royal; her brothers, Clyde Stevenson, Loyd Stevenson, Clarence "Snake" Stevenson and Grover Stevenson. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ruth Waller, Barbara Royal Durden, and Iris (Jack) Lesney, all of Thomson; a son, Greg Royal, Thomson; four brothers, Luther "Dick" (Allene) Stevenson, Murrayville, Hubert "Stub" (Lorene) Stevenson, Chatsworth, Charlie (Mary Ruth) Stevenson, Chatsworth, and Fred (Linda) Stevenson, Dalton; two sisters, Mamie Robertson, Warrenton and Lynda (Bob) Kendrick, Chatsworth; 7 grandchildren, 7 greatgrandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
