Valedictorian and salutatorian named

Thomson High School has announced its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2011.

The valedictorian is Taylor Renee Clark, the daughter of Tina and Joey Clark. She plans to attend the University of Georgia and major in biological sciences. After college, she would like to become a physician's assistant and specialize in pediatrics.

"It's a great honor to be named valedictorian," Clark said. "I would like to thank my family as well as the faculty and staff at Thomson High School for supporting me."

Salutatorian Mary Caitlin Carpenter is the daughter of Cecile and Jerry Carpenter and plans to attend Georgia College and State University and major in either marketing or public relations.

"I have worked extremely hard to juggle sports, academics and extracurricular activies, but the hard work was worth doing," she said. "I am excited to begin the next step towards my future."

Thomson High School's graduation ceremony for the Class of 2011 will be held May 20.
