Mrs. Ida Alice Wheeler Cook
LAKE CITY: Mrs. Ida Alice Wheeler Cook, 88, formerly of
Columbia, SC, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at McLeod
Hospice House, Florence, SC after an illness.
Mrs. Cook was born August 22, 1922, in Saluda County, a
daughter of the late James and Susan Edna Berry Wheeler. She
graduated from Mt. Sinia, Baltimore, MD with a nursing degree
and was a registered nurse until her retirement. Mrs. Cook was a
member of Ward Baptist Church, Ward, SC.
Survivors are a son, Richard C. (Cheryl) Cook of Lake City; a
daughter, Jennie C. Harris of Thomson, GA; four grandchildren,
Scott Cook and Jason (Dara) Cook, both of Lake City, Nicci (Chip)
Bentley and Phillip (Tammy) Lockhart, both of Thomson; eight
great-grandchildren, Tate Cook, McKenna Cook, Cub Cook, Cade
Cook and Ellie Cook, all of Lake City, Danielle Bentley, Aubrey
Bentley and Wesley Lockhart, all of Thomson.
Mrs. Cook was married to the late Raymond Cook and she
was predeceased by four sisters, Cora Strom, Ruth Young, Nellie
Padgett and Daisie Warren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.. Friday, February 18, 2011,
at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Lake City
Memorial Park.
