Mr. John R. James
Civil Service
WARRENTON, Ga. - Mr. John R. James, 85 of Warrenton,
entered into rest March 6, 2011.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at
the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ron Drawdy officiating.
Interment followed in Westview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ray James, Roger James, Chris Beasley, Andy
Garner, Michael Garner and Little Roger James.
Mr. James was born in Richmond County, Georgia and was the
son of the late Robert Jackson James and the late Hazel Mullikin
James. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and served in
the European Theatre with the 16th Armored Battalion. Mr. James
was retired as a mechanic from Civil Service at Ft. Gordon. He was
a member of Mesena United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Eva Hardy James; son,
John W. James and wife, Carolyn of Warrenton; daughters, Cheryl
Stevens and husband, Bill of Sautee, GA, Cynthia Williams and
husband, Harry of Harlem, Nancy Johnson and husband, Woody of
Dearing; brothers and sisters, Tutt James, Mac James, Betty Shirey,
Joann Rountree all of Hephzibah, and Barbara Creed of Belvedere,
SC; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Milton James;
granddaughter, Shannon Purvis; siblings, Nettie Cliatt, Clarence
James, Hubert James and Bo James.
