Deacon Morris Lee Grissom, Sr.
THOMSON, Ga. - Funeral service for Deacon Morris Lee
Grissom, Sr., 88, of Thomson, was held on Saturday, March 5, 2011,
at 2 p.m. at Lithonia Baptist Church, Camak, with Rev. Kenneth
Elder, eulogist, and Rev. Milton Neal, Presiding. Interment in the
church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Arrie Wilder Grissom, Thomson;
sons, Morris Grissom, Jr., Leon (Linda) Grissom, Detroit, MI,
James "Bill" (Lillie Bell) Grissom, Sr., Dearing, Raymond Grissom,
Thomson, and a nephew reared as a son, Jessie James (Bernice)
Grissom, Augusta; daughters, Joe Evelyn Flournoy, Mary Francis
Cartledge, and Lonnie (Larry) Williams, all of Thomson, Blondie
Forrest, Augusta, and a granddaughter reared as a daughter, Gloria
(George) Boyd, Dearing; 1 brother, Garnsey (Carrie) Grissom,
Mesena; 1 sister, Eva Greene, Mesena; sisters-in-law, Susie Kate,
Camak, Evelyn Grissom, Atlanta, Sarah (Charles) Johnson, and
Susie Bell Sanbury, all of Augusta; 32 grandchildren; 70 greatgrandchildren;
16 great-great-grandchildren; a dear friend of the
family, Robbie Norris, Thomson; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins,
and sorrowing friends.
Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.
