Briarwood loses away matches

Briarwood Academy lost all four tennis matches Monday on the road against Gatewood Academy.

In girls' action, Briarwood No. 1 Emily Henderson lost to Keeli Smith 8-0, and Briarwood No. 2 Copeland Price fell to Hannah Cornelia 9-7.

In boys' play, Briarwood No. 1 Taylor Smith fell to Chandler Sharon 8-0, and No. 2 Dylan Wright lost to Cody Rewis 8-5.

On Friday, the Buccaneers won six matches and lost one against John Hancock at home.

In girls' play, No. 1 Henderson won 8-0; No. 2 Price won 8-0; No. 3 Sara Betts Brunner won 8-5; No. 1 doubles Rachel Coxwell and Kristian Dawson won 8-0; and No. 2 doubles MaryAshley Gibson and Kylie Guy won 8-2.

In boys' action, No. 1 Smith won, 8-5; and No. 1 doubles Smith and Wright lost, 8-5.
