Mr. Marion Terry Jackson
Augusta, GA - Marion Terry Jackson, 67, entered
into rest on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at University
Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday,
March 19, 2011, at Church of the Holy Comforter with
the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Taylor, the Rev. Dr. Joe Bowden,
and the Rev. Lynn Porter officiating.
Terry was the son of the late Marion L. Jackson and
the late Hazel Jackson Humphries. He was born in
Augusta, and was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County.
Terry was a six year veteran of the Augusta U.S. Marine Reserves. He was
a graduate of Augusta College and completed numerous post graduate
courses in Banking. Terry also taught Banking Operations for Executive
Continuing Education at the University of Georgia. He began his career
in Banking in 1963 with Georgia Railroad Bank and Trust Company
which later became First Union and Wachovia. Terry rose through
the ranks of the Banking industry and became a Senior Executive. He
was the head of Operations Solutions and had an expertise for turning
around faltering operation centers. Throughout his career, he had many
professional accomplishments while with First Union. He was the
recipient of the 10th Legion Award from First Union, a highly privileged
acknowledgement of his contribution to the company. Terry retired in
2007 as a Senior Corporate Vice-President with Wachovia. Terry enjoyed
playing golf and bird hunting. In 2008, he had another accomplishment
by making his first hole in one at Jones Creek Golf Club. That same year,
he became a confirmed member of Church of the Holy Comforter and
became very active in the Wounded Warriors Program at the church. He
also supported the United Way and the American Red Cross. Terry will
be deeply missed by his family, friends, and former colleagues.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Eve McKenzie Jackson of Greer,
SC, loving father of, Mary Jackson Watson and husband Samuel of Greer,
SC, one sister, Lois Jackson Sutton
and husband Ray of Dearing, GA,
one aunt, Dorothy Dugan of North
Augusta, SC.
